Golden Globes to be a very British affair

As he knelt proudly on the Hollywood walk of fame, clutching his certificate and close to tears, Colin Firth became the 2429th person to have a star presented to him. His star is located, appropriately, next to fellow Brit, Emma Thompson, as Firth is the figurehead for a mini British invasion of the 68th Golden Globes Awards this weekend.

The awards, presented for the second consecutive year by British comedian, Ricky Gervais is expected to be taken by storm by the award-baiting 'King's Speech' in which Colin Firth plays the lead role. The movie is nominated for a mighty seven awards, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director and Best Actor, and is expected to pick up at least four.

With Helena Bonham Carter also nominated for the same movie and Hugh Laurie once again nominated for his eponymous role in 'House', it would seem that the Golden Globes party to be seen at this year will be the annual BAFTA Tea Party.
